Feb 19- "THE TRAP (Part 1)": The Trap 1/3 - Fuck You, Buddy! Adam Curtis argues that the traditional model of freedom was derived from ideas and techniques developed by Cold War nuclear strategists and that people are trapped into believing that no other model of liberty exists. (2007)

Feb 26- "THE TRAP (Part 2)": The Trap 2/3 The Lonely Robot The second episode reiterated many of the ideas of the first, but developed the theme that the drugs such as Prozac and lists of psychological symptoms which might indicate anxiety or depression were being used to normalize behavior and make humans behave more predictably, like machines. (2007)

Mar 4 - "THE TRAP (Part 3)": The Trap 3/3 - "We Will Force You To Be Free" The final segment will focus on the concepts of positive and negative liberty introduced in the 1950s by Isaiah Berlin, negative liberty could be defined as freedom from coercion and positive liberty as the opportunity to strive to fulfill one's potential. We will see how these ideas have played out through the twentieth century. (2007)

Mar 11 - "THE AGRONOMIST": A profile of Haitian radio journalist and human rights activist, Jean Dominique. It includes: historical footage of Haiti's vivid and tumultuous past; interviews with Dominique, himself and with Michele Montas--his heroic wife, life-long love, and extraordinary partner; and incorporates footage shot before Dominique's assassination on April 3, 2000. Mar 18 - "THE SECRET GOVERNMENT": An oldie but goodie that has almost completely disappeared. Here, Bill Moyers exposes the inner workings of a secret government much more vast that most people would ever imagine. Though originally broadcast in 1987, it is even more relevant today. Interviews with respected top military, intelligence, and government insiders reveal both the history and secret objectives of powerful groups in the hidden shadows of our government. Unfortunately, in this film we will see familiar faces, some still at top levels of our government. When will we ever learn? (1987)

Mar 25 - "THE SOUND OF RIO": A 90-min musical documentary film about Choro, the first genuinely Brazilian urban music. It was back in the late 19th century in Rio de Janeiro when Brazilian musicians started to blend European melodies, Afro-Brazilian rhythms and the melancholic interpretation of the Brazilian Indians' music to create Choro. Choro is credited as being the first musical expression of Brazil's melting pot and had a prominent place in the development of Brazil's cultural identity. (2007)
